Kitchen – Isle of Man
The colour palette of this hand-painted kitchen in the Isle-of Man is tranquility itself. Light and spacious, the kitchen opens out directly on to the outside raised decking, which is reflected by a full mirror splash-back over the sink area. Large format limestone style tiles reflect the size of the area, with the oak accents bringing additional warmth. The uniformity of the Caesar stone adds to the calmness whilst giving a certain ‘chic’.
A conventional extractor wasn’t used, as it was felt that this would spoil the view to outside – so a custom in-ceiling extractor was designed to sit between the joists, with a powerful motor sited in the adjacent utility room, meaning that the noise is absolutely minimal for those in the kitchen!
The up-lighting above the cabinets works particularly well at night, offering a lovely soft backdrop whilst entertaining and dining.
The gently curved larder cabinet is at the heart of this busy kitchen. With its door – activated internal lighting, 19mm toughened, curved, glass shelves and full mirror back, all add to give a wonderful surprise when opened, whilst reflecting the light and space of the room itself. Practically, by being able to see through the glass shelves allows the user to see everything that’s inside.
The metal retainer rails to the bottle racks were hand-shaped to suit the curvature of the doors.
